The precìso™ system works by characterizing diagnostic molecules present within tissue cells (metabolites, lipids, and proteins) and quickly distinguishing between "normal" and "cancerous" tissues. 

A mass spectrometer detects the diagnostic molecules as charged particles (ions) from the analyzed sample by sorting and measuring the mass of the ions; providing valuable identifiable information about the sample.

Via the biocompatible handheld precìso™ device, a small volume of water is delivered to the suspicious tissue surface where metabolites, lipids, and proteins are gently collected in just 3 seconds, followed by mass spectrometry analysis of the rich molecular information contained in the droplet.

A complex set of algorithms then translates this molecular pattern or "fingerprint" into a tissue diagnosis, immediately informing the medical practitioner of the probability of cancer being present at the analysis site.

The innovative precìso™ technology is poised to change the surgical workflow practiced for well over a century. 

Achieving cancer-free surgical margins in oncologic surgery is critical to reduce the need for additional adjuvant treatments and minimize tumor recurrence.  There is a delicate balance between completeness of tumor removal and preservation of adjacent tissue that is critical for normal post-operative function. 

It is a challenge for cancer surgeons is to determine exactly where a tumor begins and where it ends. Removing too much tissue can impair normal function, but not taking enough can mean disease recurrence. The handheld precìso device enables surgeons to distinguish between cancerous and healthy tissue with greater certainty in mere seconds.

Extensive clinical data suggests that highly effective surgeries are those that remove the most cancer, while preserving the most normal tissue. The precìso™ system is poised to be one of the most revolutionary diagnostic technology developed in decades.

IN VIVO AND EX VIVO


Based on data compiled from over 1200 clinical samples (from patients both in surgery and in the laboratory), the precìso™ system has shown to detect molecular signatures that are diagnostic of cancerous cells within regions of mixed histological composition that are traditionally extremely difficult to define intraoperatively. The ability to provide accurate and expedited diagnostic information from complex biological samples, both in vivo and ex vivo, without inducing damage to the tissue surface suggests precìso can assist in cancer diagnosis both in surgery and in the pathology lab without disrupting clinical and tissue processing workflows.
